Cryptogramophone is a Los Angeles based record label that presents state of the art recordings of creative jazz, in beautifully designed
digipaks.
Cryptogramophone was formed in 1998 by violinist/producer Jeff Gauthier,
to serve the needs of a community of creative jazz artists committed to
exploring the cutting edge of improvisation, composition, artistic
vision, emotion, and musical innovation. Some of the artists who perform
on Cryptogramophone Records include Scott Amendola, Bobby Bradford, Alex
Cline, Nels Cline, Mark Dresser, Erik Friedlander, Bill Frisell, Ben
Goldberg, Bennie Maupin, Brad Mehldau, Myra Melford, Andrea Parkins,
Alan Pasqua, Don Preston, Jenny Scheinman, Cuong Vu, and many others.
Cryptogramophone also produces an internationally known creative jazz
and world music concert series in Los Angeles called Cryptonight at the
Club Tropical. On Thursday and Friday nights, we present jazz, creative
music, and world music artists from all over the world.
Finally, Cryptogramophone owns www.indiejazz.com, an online record store
offering quality but hard to find independent jazz and creative music.
