Violinist Jeff Gauthier's Goatette, featuring Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, drummer Alex Cline, pianist David Witham, and bassist Joel Hamilton, cuts an impressively wide musical swath. "House of Return," Gauthier's latest recording and 5th as a leader, moves seamlessly from acoustic modern jazz and creative new music compositions to electronic space jams, creating a superbly crafted musical architecture. A Downbeat Rising star as both violinist and producer in the 2007 Downbeat Critics Poll, "House of Return" reaffirms Gauthier's credibility as creative force in modern jazz.
